From the desk of MHD Promotions. ‘Champions Night’ at the Devenish Complex, Finaghy Rd North, Belfast on Saturday, October 4, 2014.

Fight week is now upon us and there is a growing tsunami of atmosphere building up towards showtime at the New Devenish Complex in Finaghy Road North, Belfast. The entire nine-fight card has been confirmed and will feature most of the country’s finest young professional boxers all looking to impress the Belfast fight fans and critics.

champLooking to steal the show is talented Belfast light-middleweight Dee Walsh (unbeaten in seven) as he faces teak-tough Polish representative Adam Grabiec who has never been stopped in 13 fights. Walsh has now been cleared for the Irish title and aims to keep as active as possible until his big chance comes along. The other co-headliner witnesses the return of unbeaten 20-year-old Daniel ‘Insane’ McShane, an exciting talent unbeaten in eight fights, who has Irish title aspirations of his own and never fails to let down his army of followers with his crazy ring walks.

Sadly there will be no James Tennyson on the show as he took an allergic reaction following an injection in one of his arms and as a result his big fight with Krzysztof Rogowski will be postponed until further notice.

The cracking undercard sees promising Belfast lightweights Paul Hyland Jnr and James Fryers in very competitive fights against English opponents Andy Harris and Lewis O’Mara respectively.

Another popular figure on the Irish boxing circuit Gerard Healy returns to action as he takes on Portsmouth light-middleweight Liam Griffiths. Meanwhile, the long-awaited Belfast debut of former world ranked amateur star Tommy McCarthy (2-0) sees the quality cruiserweight battle a fellow unbeaten former amateur standout from Bulgaria in the shape of Dimitar Spaiyski (2-0). Someone’s “0” is going to go!

Darren Cruise (Roscommon) and Alan Donnellan (Galway) both make the big trip up north to try and get back to winning ways.

Irish boxing stalwart Alio Wilton unleashes the latest prospect from his stable when Michael McKinson debuts against the experienced Jan Salamacha of Poland.
