Sutcliffe leads the way in Dublin with points win

Philip Sutcliffe Jnr enjoyed his biggest win to date last night at the Red Cow Hotel in Dublin. Sutcliffe outpointed Yoann Portailler by a score of 79-72 but was made to work hard for his victory by a solid and well-chosen opponent who refused to be dispatched like so many of the puncher’s previous foes.

Meli faces Dee Taggart on June 14 Belfast card

Unbeaten middleweight Alfredo Meli appears to be have been granted his wish of boxing two weeks in a row. Shortly after posting a six-round shutout of Trowbridge survivor Dan Blackwell, the 24-year-old (boxing on his birthday no less) made known his desire to box again on Saturday, June 14.

Middleweight Meli has titles on his mind

Belfast middleweight Alfredo Meli reckons that he can break into title contention by the end of the year. The undefeated Immaculata boxer faces Dan Blackwell on Friday night as part of Alan Wilton’s latest Holiday Inn show. This will be Meli’s fourth appearance at the Ormeau Road venue, against an opponent who has lasted the distance with Callum Smith and Anthony Ogogo during a 38-fight career.
